Reasonable fee hike in Delhi schools

New Delhi: After months of speculation over fee hike in private and unaided schools in the capital, the govt has finally come out with the figures. For every Rs 500 in tution fees, there will be Rs 100 increase monthly.

The larger payment a lump sum one will be the payment of salary arrears to teachers up to Rs 4000 in two installments. This will be over and above the increase in tuition fee.

“The teachers should be getting the benefits of the hike by April 31. Any grievances from teachers or students, our committee will be set up to address that,” says Education Minister, Delhi, Arvinder Singh Lovely.

“I don’t mind paying this much for my child's quality education,” says

It’s a relief for parents expecting a flat 50 per cent increase on monthly fee- a figure still being demanded by most schools.

“We are not happy with it. It is not sufficient. We are going to send a representation to the govt,” says Chairman, national progressive school conference, S L Jain.

No student can be prevented from writing his exams on the pretext of non-payment of revised fees. After this, till March 2010 schools will not be allowed for any further increase.
