New Delhi: The rebellion by former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje now seems to be fizzling out.
Fifty-seven Rajasthan MLAs, who went to Delhi in a show of support for Raje, have been denied an audience by L K Advani who was busy in a meeting with party president Rajnath Singh.
Upset at being ignored, the MLAs then staged a dharna outside his residence.
"We have come to put forward our opinion and we are confident that we will be heard. Vasundhara is our elected leader and only people from the ministry have the right to take a decision on her," said one of the MLAs, Rajendra Singh Rathore.
However, no officials from with the BJP were available for comment. When Rajnath emerged from the meeting, he too refused to comment on why the two leaders did not meet the MLAs.
The BJP core group on Wednesday decided to remove her from the post, holding her responsible for the recent debacle in the elections.
Raje has refused to step down as leader of Opposition in Rajasthan Assembly despite Rajnath's orders, sparking off another crisis of leadership in the party.
