CHENNAI: Software major Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS) created a world record by recruiting 1,755 students of the 2012 batch from SASTRA University, during their campus recruitment drive conducted at SASTRA on September 16 & 17, this year.
This record is for the largest recruitment by any company in the world from a single campus.
TCS surpassed its earlier record set at SASTRA last year. This also includes four students recruited for the R&D division with a pay package of `6.3 lakh per annum. Over 2,100 students from various engineering streams both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels appeared for the interview conducted by over 170 experts from TCS.
While addressing the candidates, G Srinivasa Raghavan, Country Head of TCS, spoke on the future of the IT services industry and TCS’ initiative in emerging areas of mobility and product development. The management of SASTRA is also providing financial aid for her higher education as part of its social commitment.
