New Delhi: Union Labour Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge says there will be labour reforms that will be friendly to both investor and labour. In an exclusive interview to CNN-IBN's DP Satish, Kharge outlines his priorities.
CNN-IBN: Sir, is the government ready to reform labour laws? so many foreign companies are demanding India should reform its labour laws. Are you going to do it to attract more and more foreign investments?
Mallikarjuna Kharge: There are two ways some people say, that you relax labour laws then only more investments will come in India. But at the same time if you in the interest of foreign investments, if you continue relaxing laws then who will look after the labours. We can't do abruptly just to attract foreign investments. Yes, if any difficulty or hindrances are there for investment definitely we will try to remove those contradictions.
CNN-IBN: Sir, my question is related to PF rate cut. Last time UPA tried several time but because of communists you couldn't do it. Are you going to reduce the interest rate?
Mallikarjuna Kharge: Whether communists or Left party are with us or not does not matter. But if it is reasonable then we will definitely do it. Any interest should be economically feasible. And if interest of labours is need, definitely we will announce. If market won't permit, banks wont permit then it will remain same.
