New Delhi: Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan has complained to Rajya Sabha Chairperson and Vice President Hamid Ansari about Rajya Sabha TV showing her footage while Rekha took oath as a member of the House on Tuesday. Jaya Bachchan complained that the footage was picked up by news channels and played to sensationalise the matter.
She told Ansari that she felt hurt by the Rajya Sabha TV footage and the coverage of the oath taking ceremony by the news channels. Sources close to Jaya Bachchan said that there was no need for her to be shown constantly on TV when Rekha was being sworn in.
Sources said that there was an obvious attempt made to link Jaya Bachchan and Rekha and added that this was an act of mischief which was immediately picked up by the media. Jaya became very sad when she saw the coverage, sources said.
Ansari called Rajya Sabha TV CEO and asked him to explain the footage.
Ministry of State Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla said that several MPs had complained to the Rajya Sabha Chairperson about the coverage.
