New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Monday extended the police protection for actor Chiranjeevi's daughter Sreeja and her husband Sirish Bhardwaj by two weeks.

The couple’s lawyer Pinky Anand said that Sreeja got a letter from Chiranjeevi saying that he accepts the marriage and the couple has nothing to fear.

However, despite the actor's assurance, neither he nor his brother Pawan Kalyan have spoken to Sreeja directly till now .

Chiranjeevi has also not withdrawn cases lodged against Sirish. Therefore, Sreeja has deemed it best to ask for the extension of police protection for them till they are in Delhi, Anand said.

The couple – whose elopement and televised marriage made national headlines – have written to Hyderabad police commissioner asking for protection when they return but still haven't got any reply.

The drama started on October 18 when Sreeja got married to her friend Shirish Bharadwaj at an Arya Samaj Temple in Hyderabad on with camera crews from local news channels in attendance.

All this was happening without her father Chiranjeevi's knowledge or consent.

If that wasn't dramatic enough Sreeja even alleged that her parents - who were against her love affair with Sirish - had put her under virtual house arrest for the past one year.
