Vishakhapatnam: For the first time in the country twin babies - a male and a female were born with the help of pre-implantation genetic technology in Vishakhapatnam at the Krishna (In-Vitro Fertilisation) IVF Clinic on Tuesday.

According to Krishna IVF Clinic Director G A Ramaraju, the pre-implantation was a new technology that can detect genetic abnormalities such as disease causing mutations and chromosomal abnormalities to prevent the conception of abnormal pregnancies like tyspicfibrosis.

The new technology was useful for couples, who undergo IVF with an advanced maternal age and for patient with representative IVF failure, Ramaraju said.
