Relief reaches after 6 days

newindianexpressExpress News Service

NAYAGARH: Relief has finally reached Badasilinga and Chhamundia gram panchayats under Gania block which remained cut off for six days. Flooding of roads and swirling water had hindered movement of boats with relief materials. Even ODRAF team had failed to reach the gram panchayats.

The district administration reached out to the flood-ravaged  people of Chhamundia gram panchayat with dry food packets on Tuesday and Badasilinga gram panchayat on Wednesday. A medical team reached Chhamundia gram panchayat on Wednesday and will proceed to Badasilinga, on Thursday, said Sub-Collector Manas Ranjan Devata.

People of the two gram panchayats, however, regretted that they had to be content with a measly relief. They have demanded relief for another week and supply of cooked food through free kitchens. They have also requested the administration for baby food.

With water receding, relief work has gained pace in  all the three flood-affected blocks of the district, according to administration  sources.
