New Delhi: Religion has just found a 'cable connection' with God. Television channels offering programmes on spirituality, yoga and self-realization are topping the popularity charts, with soaring TRP’s and a steadily increasing viewership.
"I love watching religious channels with my family. It is a divine experience and entertaining too," homemaker Radha Chabbra says. God TV and Miracle.net, already have offices in Delhi and QTV is in fact the most sought after channel during Ramzan.
Reports show that the TRPs of religious and spiritual channels like Aastha, Sanskar, Jagran, GOD TV and QTV are soaring high and there has been steady increase in their viewership as well.
"I never miss the Aarti that is telecast from Rishikesh. I also like Bhagvad Gita sermons played on Sanskar channel everyday. It has become a habit now," 30-years professional Atul Khanna says. After doing puja at five in the morning Atul sits down to watch a few religious proggrammes.
And the Spiritual broadcasters know its not just ‘religion’ that sells. To have the religious lot stay connected, there’s Yoga Quiz, Naturopathy lessons, Religious Antakshari's, Self Healing contests and Vaastu Discussions as the prime time drivers.
If you thought that Moksh (salvation) is an elusive subject, there is World Space Radio's Moksh service that offers a divine experience for the spiritually inclined.
For the young and tech-savvy generation of today, the way to attain salvation is to surf through a few ‘divine’ channels and select the kind of programme that suits their spiritual needs.
