New Delhi: The sealing drive by Municipal Corporation of Delhi faced severe criticism as some high profile properties were sealed on Monday.
Village Bistro, a top-notch restaurant in Delhi’s Hauz Khas area, was just one amongst many other high profile buildings that were sealed by the MCD on Monday.
A popular joint in South Delhi for the past 17 years, Bistro was sealed for being built too close to a protected monument. However Bistro’s owner Ashok Sahota feels that he's been an unfair target.
"We have the police licenses, excise license, fire license all kinds of licenses that exist. What else do they want? What they have done is completely unfair," said Sahota on Tuesday.
The other high profile premises that have come in the MCD-net include the Powerhouse gym in Hauz Khas, the Caravan guesthouse in Nizamuddin and the Ozone health club in Defence Colony. MCD feels they have violated construction laws.
"Our restaurant came into existence in 1988. The whole structure existed before the before the ASI came up with building laws," said Ashok Sahota Owner, Bistro.
Commercial establishments in the posh A and B category colonies had been initially given time until September 15. And this had upset small time traders who accused the MCD of being biased.
