Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has ruffled a few feathers again and this time he is has had a run in with the censor board itself. CNN-IBN's Amrita Panja finds out what new trouble he has gotten himself into.
Amrita Panja: What is the issue this time?
Ram Gopal Varma I don't know if its a controversy. Some people think I have made my version of the National Anthem. For starters, it is not the National Anthem. The meaning of my song is very different from the National Anthem. I was aware that you cannot demean or ridicule the National Anthem and I haven't done that. As a creative artiste I have expressed a certain emotion in a certain way and I thought this will be the best possible way to get my point across.
Amrita Panja: What if the censor board doesn't keep the song in your film?
Ram Gopal Varma I will try and convince them and probably go for a revised committee, but my intent has come genuinely come from the heart.
Amrita Panja: What is the film about?
Ram Gopal Varma The film is basically about the media and how it's a truth-telling machinery in a democracy. But in this day of intense competition of being the number one channel, how far can they stick to that basic responsibility in telling the truth in a correct and responsible way.
