New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Jaswant Singh on Wednesday questioned the wisdom of senior leaders who have been writing in newspapers about the party’s poll defeat.
Party’s key strategist and senior leader Sudheendra Kulkarni wrote a scathing article in a magazine blaming the second generation for the party’s debacle.
His article has raised a lot of criticism and the latest to target him was Rajya Sabha MP Arun Shorie. CNN IBN has learnt that Shourie charges Kulkarni of exceeding his brief during Tuesday’s parliamentary party meet.
Jaswant also questioned Arun Jaitley for writing another column in newspaper describing the reasons for party’s defeat in the elections.
“People should not be writing articles,” says BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu.
Jumping in this latest war is Jaswant Singh - another senior leader who is upset with BJP strategists becoming column writers. Recently, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) too had blamed Kulkarni for washing dirty linen in public.
However, when asked if Jaswant Singh was angry during the meeting, Rajanth says: “Jaswantji is not upset.”
But this is not the first time that Kulkarni is being blamed as the fall guy within the BJP. When Advani was embroiled in the Jinnah controversy, it was Kulkarni who was charged as the architect of that controversy.
He was removed officially from the party's posts but then Kulkarni came back with a bang during the campaigning becoming one of the party’s main spokespersons and heading the overall campaigning strategy.
Kulkarni has been the closest aide to Advani over the last four years and that is why many believe that his views are actually reflective of what Advani himself feels disgruntled about.
