New Delhi: Mukesh Ambani's retail juggernaut will soon roll into the home solutions, travel, beauty and entertainment market. But amidst all this talk of new specialty segments, the company continues to be tight-lipped about a possible IPO.
Undeterred by protests, Mukesh Ambani is rolling out new services under the Reliance Retail umbrella.
Buoyed by the success of Kishore Biyani's Hometown, RIL Retail will launch home specialty stores in the next few months. The company is in talks with several international chains to tie up sourcing agreements for a range of home furnishing products.
“We are exploring home specialty options. We are currently in talks with players,” said Reliance Retail (Lifestyle)’s President and Chief Executive, Bijou Kurien.
The first set of RIL’s home stores will come up in Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Bangalore.
The company is also expanding its jewellery, music and books and wellness stores. It aims to add 150 thousand sq feet of retail space every month.
Reliance is also all set to get into the beauty business and will launch it first saloon in Ahmedabad.
Reliance Retail’s forays will continue into the entertainment and travel sector as well.
Theme Parks and entertainment centres is what the company is looking at, to begin with. Where the travel-related business may kick off this year, the announcement on the entertainment sector is likely to happen only in 2009.
