New Delhi: The CBI on Thursday concluded Rizwan-ur-Rehman - the Muslim youth whose mysterious death after marrying a Hindu industrialist's daughter sparked an outcry – committed suicide and wasn’t murdered.

CBI has sought the permission to file charge sheet against the ones accused of abetting the suicide before appropriate court.

They accused include two IPS Officers Gyanwant Singh and Ajay Kumar, ACP Sukanti Chakrabarty and sub inspector Krishnendu Dass. It also names industrialist Ashok Todi, Rizwanur's father-in-law, and some of his family members of abetting the suicide.

The CBI report was read out by the Calcutta High Court in the court of Justice Dipankar Dutta, Rahman family's counsel Kalyan Bandopadhayay said.

"CBI says in report that it is not murder, it is suicide. But CBI says there was an instigation to commit suicide. So I have recommended a criminal case. Case should be registered against Ajay Kumar , Sukani Chakraborthy and Krishnendu Das for criminal cases under Sec 306, 506 and 120B of IPC," says

Counsel for Rizwanur's family, Kalyan Banerjee.

Though Rizwanur's family still believes he was murdered, they are willing to accept the CBI's version.

"We were a little disappointed because we felt it was a murder. We still believe so but we respect the CBI's decision and the recommendations they have made," says Rizwanur's brother, Rukbanur.

On Jan 8, the CBI submitted its probe report on the death of graphic designer Rizwanur Rahman to the high court.
