Mumbai: Martin Scorsese's recently released documentary on The Rolling Stones has been making waves on the rock music scene.

A tribute to the kings of rock, from the king of directors, Shine a Light, captures the all the energy and the action of a Stones concert and has more than just sympathy for the devils of rock-n-roll.

So the Stones get the full Scorsese treatment - with award winning cameramen tracking their every move on stage.

But with the legendary rockers on board, things don't always go according to plan. Scorsese had to drown out the Stones' colourful language on stage with some timely drumbeats but critics have already given it a thumbs up.

The Oscar-winning director has been a long time fan of the stones with their music playing a part in most of his movies.

The wrinkled rockers too, have been the focus of a few notorious documentaries, like Gimme Shelter, which was filmed at a concert where a fan was fatally stabbed and another by photographer Robert Frank, which uncovers the graphic details of life on the road with the Stones, and is a bootleg classic.

Shine a Light is not scheduled for a theatrical release in India, so you may just have to rely on your local DVD store to watch the Stones back in action.
