Roddick steam-rolls into Davis Cup Q/Fs

New Delhi: The traditional powerhouses of USA have steam-rolled into the quarter finals of the Davis Cup with a 4-1 thrashing of Switzerland.

World No 6 Andy Roddick gave the Americans an unassailable 3-1 lead by winning the first reverse singles against Stanislaw Wawrinka.

The Swiss team were without Roger Federer who sat out of the tie with a back injury.

Roddick thrashed Wawrinka in straight sets 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 to make it a 11-0 record for him when it came to deciding rubbers in Davis Cup.

The win, his 31st, also took Roddick past Andre Agassi into the second slot on the all time list of wins for USA. He is second to John McEnroe who leads with 41 singles wins.
