Click to play videoJaipur: Former Jaipur royal Gayatri Devis's grandchildren are trying to close the doors on any other possible claimants to the late rajmata’s property. Her grandchildren Devraj and Lalitya Rangsit now claim the Rajmata had left a will giving her entire property, worth millions, to them.
Their statement says: In order to end all speculation we would like to announce that our grandmother left behind her last will in favour of us, giving us all her properties. We are also her only natural legal heirs entitled to succeed to her estate.
“This is all that we want to say at the moment. Thank you very much,” Devraj said.
Gayatri Devi was the third wife of the erstwhile Maharaja Sawai Mansingh II. Bhawani Singh was Mansingh's eldest son from his first wife. Prithvi Singh and Jai Singh are sons from his second wife. Gayatri Devi's son, Jagat Singh, had two children Lalitya and Devraj with Thai Princess Priyanandana Rangsit.
Gayatri Devi had a bitter-sweet relationship with her two grandchildren, often blaming them along with their mother for their father’s death. They were also involved in a property battle which was settled just months before the Rajmata’s death.
The Rajmata's stepsons are yet to make their stand clear on the grandchildren’s new claims. While Bhawani Singh seems to support them, Prithvi Singh has denied having any copy of the will.
Gayatri Devi's grandchildren have claimed that the will in question is lying with the former Maharaja of Jaipur, Brig Bhawani Singh. But without a copy to support their claims, its legal authenticity remains unclear.
