TIRUCHY: Electronic goods worth about Rs 10 lakh were reduced to ashes in a fire that broke out at a shopping complex (Walajah Complex) on NSB Road, where more than 100 shops were located, in the early hours of Sunday.
The fire broke out in a sh-op on the ground floor and it spread to the other shops.
Srirangam Fire and Rescue Service personnel with five fire tenders put out the fire after struggling for several hours. Initial investigation revealed that the fire was caused by a blast in a UPS inverter due to short circuit. It spread to the other shops through the electrical wires.
