Hyderabad: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) claims that a deal of Rs 6 crore was struck between former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy and suspended CBI judge T Pattabhirama Rao for the former's bail. Rs 2.8 crore have been recovered from the locker of the suspended CBI judge's son, sources said on Friday.
The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Thursday night suspended the First Additional Special Judge for CBI cases for alleged irregularities.
Rao was hearing the Obulapuram mining scam case. He had granted bail to prime accused Gali Janardhana Reddy on May 11 in the case. Reddy, however, is still in jail in another case.
Judge Rao was also hearing the EMAAR case and heard the petition for defreezing YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy's Saakshi TV accounts in the disproportionate assets case.
Earlier, on Thursday evening the government also cancelled an MoU with Reddy on building a steel plant in Kadapa.
The CBI is now seeking legal opinion on the jurisdiction issue after which decision will be taken to whether register a case under the Indian Penal Court (IPC) or to let the local police probe the matter.
