A collection agent reportedly lost Rs 3 lakh cash, which was kept in his scooters glove cabinet, here on Friday.
Police said Tarun Kumar Jain (24), who was working as a collection agent for a finance firm, withdrew Rs 3 lakh from ING Vysya Bank in Kilpauk. He kept the money inside the glove cabinet in his vehicle. He then proceeded to the IDBI Bank in Kilpauk to withdraw Rs 1.5 lakh. After withdrawing the money, Tarun Kumar came out and opened the glove cabinet where he had kept the money but found it to be missing. A case was registered by the police and investigation was being carried out by Inspector G Subramanian of Kilpauk Police Station.
Ten injured as joy ride goes off axle
Ten including four kids were injured as their joy ride went off the axle during a temple festival in Ayanavaram, on Friday night. Police said joy rides were set up by the private parties during the Adi festival celebrations at Solaimman Temple in Ayanavaram. Joy ride operator Jayaraj was arrested.
DAE caught taking Rs 1.3 lakh bribe
A Deputy Area Engineer (DAE) of Metrowater was arrested by the DVAC when the official accepted a bribe of Rs 1.3 lakh, here on Saturday.
Kuppusamy, (29), a building contractor, approached the DVAC stating that Rajan (56), Deputy Area Engineer (DAE), CMWSSB, Velachery, demanded Rs 1,30,000 as bribe to extend water supply and drainage connection to the residential complex constructed by him at Sankar Nagar in Velachery. A trap was laid by the DVAC sleuths and they subsequently arrested Rajan.
Jewels looted from DIPR official’s house
Gold jewellery weighing 60 sovereign were looted from the residence of Shanthi, who was working as an Assistant Director in DIPR at the Secretariat, at Teachers Colony, Royapettah on here on Saturday. Based on her complaint, Anna Salai Police has registered a case.
