Indore: Dismissing BJP's promise of constructing Ram temple in Ayodhya as a poll gimmick, the Congress on Saturday accused the saffron party of trying to foment communal trouble, along with RSS, in run-up to the Assembly elections.
BJP in its poll manifesto for Uttar Pradesh has promised of constructing Ram temple in Ayodhya, an issue which had once propelled the party to the centrestage of national politics.
"RSS and BJP are working on a hidden agenda of communal issues and are trying to organise Bhojshala and Maan Sarswati palki yatras in Madhya Pradesh's Dhar district for the last couple of days, despite the district administration denying permission to hold such a congregation of people that may lead to tension," Narendra Saluja, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee spokesman said in a statement.
The RSS and BJP have a hidden agenda for the 2013 Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh and also for the elections in Uttar Pradesh.
Referring to RSS' alleged bid to organise 'palki yatras' (palanquin rallies) at Bhojshala in communally sensitive Dhar district, Saluja said, "for many years there was a complete peace in Dhar, but recent activities of former RSS functionary Naval Kishore Sharma to hold rallies in an attempt to disturb communal harmony".
The Congress committee chief also alleged that the ruling Shivraj Singh Chouhan government has failed on all fronts of governance.
