New Delhi: Anand Prakash, the father of Aradhana Gupta, who was a friend of Ruchika Girhotra, has said that he will approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court challenging the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI's) closure report in the molestation-suicide case.

The CBI's closure report pertained to Ruchika's brother, Ashu Girhotra's torture and destruction of evidence in the case.

Anand Prakash added that Ruchika's father SC Girhotra had accepted the closure report under pressure.

Ruchika's family had earlier this week said it had no objection to the CBI's closure report in the case. The closure reports, filed by the CBI in 2010 in these two cases, were accepted by the CBI Court in Panchkula, Haryana, on Friday. Appearing before the Panchkula court, SC Girhotra and his son Ashu raised no objection to the CBI move.

Teenager Ruchika, who was a budding tennis player, had committed suicide in 1993, three years after allegedly being molested by former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore in August 1990.

69-year-old Rathore is currently out on bail after spending around six months in jail serving a sentence of 18 months in the main case relating to the molestation charge. He has appealed against the sentence in the molestation case.

SC Girhotra had in his complaint alleged that his signatures were taken on blank papers during the postmortem proceedings of Ruchika, who committed suicide in December 1993.

Girhotra had earlier said that his daughter's name was intentionally changed to Ruby and his name mentioned from SC Girhotra to his full name Subhash Chand, apparently to cover up the matter.
