Panaji:Was there a love angle to the death of Russian tourist Elena Sukhanova? The Goa Police have rounded up three people for questioning, one of them a waiter at the hotel she was staying in. He was sacked recently for being too friendly with women guests.
The General Manager of Sun City, Debashish Chandra said, "He used to talk to Elena a lot. He used to go to her room, even at 2 o clock in the morning. He did overtime to meet her."
Police sources say that shortly before her death, Elena had written to them saying she wanted to stay on in Goa because she had fallen in love.
Elena's mutilated body was found on the railway tracks on Friday. The postmortem report says she died after she came under the wheels of the train.
Superintendent of Goa Police, Tony Fernandes said, "The cause of her death to the best of our knowledge and belief was due to the crushing of her head from a blunt force impact, by an object or a surface consequent to being run over by a railway rolling wheel."
Police sources also say they still have reasons to suspect foul play.
