Sabarimala priest 'attackers' held

Kochi: In a new twist to the Sabarimala controversy, three people were detained by the Cochin police on Wednesday after they confessed to assaulting Kantararu Mohanaru — the thantri who was sacked for alleged immoral activities.

Director Inspector General Police, K Padmakumar said Sobha John, one of the witness-turned-accused in the case, was one among those arrested.

The two others who were detained are Shobha’s drivers Vijay and Anil Kumar.

The thantri had registered a police complaint on July 24 saying that he was abducted and taken to the flat where Shoba, a woman booked for prostitution six months ago was staying.

In his complaint he stated that soon after he reached the flat, he was allegedly manhandled and photographed in the nude.
