Sabharwal case: More witnesses hostile

New Delhi: Four constables who are the key witnesses to the murder of Professor Sabharwal have retracted from their statement given to the state CID.

Three of the constables were posted at gate number two of Madhav College where Professor Sabharwal who was assaulted by ABVP activists on August 26 last year following cancellation of college elections

An ABVP activist and witness Bhanu Bhadoria has also retracted from his statement.

Six people have already turned hostile in the case including key witnesses Komal Singh Sengar, the peon of Madav College and Manohar Dadia, the physical training instructor of the college.

The six people that included two reporters had recorded their statements in the case in a court in Ujjain on Thursday

They had told the court that they had not seen anyone in Madhav College assaulting the teacher on the day of the incident.

The two reporters told the court they were not present at the spot where ABVP workers allegedly beat Prof Sabharwal.

Similarly, the six class representatives who were present in the college for student polls told the court of District and Sessions Judge Anil Kumar Sharma that since the authorities had cancelled the elections, they went home and had not seen anyone manhandling Prof Sabharwal.

The court summoned nine witnesses and only eight recorded their statements on Friday.
