New Delhi: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has broken his silence on the issue of his brother joining the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). "I am very sad but I have no control over what others do," he said.
In much embarrassment for the Congress, Daljeet Singh Kohli, step-brother of the PM, joined the BJP during a public meeting in Amritsar on Friday in the presence of its prime ministerial pick Narendra Modi.
After his inclusion in the BJP, he said that he was disappointed over the way Manmohan was treated by the Congress and hence decided to join the saffron party.
"Manmohan Singh never had a free hand in the working of the government and could not work to his capacity," Kohli said.
Manmohan's family today condemned the move saying they are still with the Prime Minister. "We are saddened by Daljeet's decision but it's his choice. Manmohan Singh is an honest man who worked to make India better, he has made us proud," said Randeep Singh, Manmohan's grandson.
