New Delhi: The BJP on Wednesday on met President Pranab Mukherjee and sought his intervention to stop attacks on constitutional bodies. Senior BJP leaders LK Advani, Sushma Swaraj, Arun Jaitley and Murli Manohar Joshi met the President in the hope of putting more pressure on the UPA government over the coal block allocation controversy.
Advani said that he was disappointed the way Prime Minister Manmohan Singh questioned the CAG report on coal block allocations.
He also added that the Congress was disrespecting the constitutional bodies and has sought the President's intervention on the issue.
"Our fight against corruption will continue within and outside Parliament," said Advani.
The BJP has been defiantly demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister and an impartial probe into the matter.
The Congress on Tuesday had dared the BJP for a debate in a public forum on the coal controversy but refrained from coming to the defence of party MPs who are facing the heat for alleged irregularities in coal block allocation.
"We are ready to discuss it in any public forum. Let BJP come forward if it has confidence. We can debate in any public forum and the truth will come out. People of the country will decide whose faces are blackened with coal," Congress spokesperson Manish Tewari said.
