Puttaparthi: Sathya Sai Baba of Puttaparthi continues to be on ventilator support though his vital parameters are nearly normal and satisfactory, doctors attending on him said on Tuesday evening.

"Sai Baba continues to be in the stable condition as he was in the morning," said a health bulletin issued by the Director of the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences.

"He is still on ventilator to support his respiration function and on the CRRT system to assist his kidney function," it said.

"All other vital parameters are nearly normal and satisfactory. He is under constant watch of the panel of doctors treating him."

85-year-old Sathya Sai Baba was admitted to the super-speciality hospital at Prashantigram here on March 28 following lung and chest congestion.

The health bulletin issued in the morning said that the godman's "level of consciousness has considerably improved. His vital systems are in stable condition. He still continues to be on assisted ventilation through ventilator and CRRT, which is a slow dialysis process".

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government said there was no cause for concern about the Baba's health though his condition continues to remain "critical".

"There is nothing to worry but let us all pray for the speedy recovery of the Baba," Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy said after a high-level review meeting on the health condition of the Baba at the Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar

Reddy's camp office this afternoon.

Raghuveera said there was nothing to hide about the Baba's health and the Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences was releasing two medical bulletins daily.

Maintaining that there is improvement in Sai Baba's condition, Major Industries Minister J Geeta Reddy said that he was, however, still not out of the "delicate zone".

"I have seen him thrice in the last few days. He is not able to speak because of sedation but otherwise he is moving his hands. We came to know that bhajans were played this morning and he listened to them," she said.

A senior government doctor also said there is improvement in Baba's condition.

"His temperature has come down, blood pressure and pulse rate are being maintained though kidney functioning needs to improve. He is not out of the delicate situation but he is better than yesterday," Dr Ashok from the Gandhi

Government hospital in Hyderabad said.

Earlier, prohibitory orders under Section 144 CrPC were clamped in this town as followers of the Baba allegedly tried to attack the district collector and other officials for not allowing them to have a darshan of the ailing godman.

Additional police personnel have been sent to the area keeping in view the situation there.
