Jodhpur: A visibly relieved, and sober, Salman Khan walked out of the Jodhpur Central Jail on Friday evening.

The actor was released on bail by the Rajasthan High Court after it suspended his five-year sentence for shooting an endangered Chinkara antelope in 1998.

Salman had to pay a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and two surety bonds of Rs 50,000 each.

Salman Khan's lawyer Dipesh Mehta, who accompanied the actor when he was released, explained the conditions the court has imposed while granting bail for him.

“The honourable court has granted him bail by suspending the sentence and directed him to give a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh along with two sureties of the like amount to the satisfaction of the honourable Chief Judicial Magistrate at Jodhpur,” said Mehta, “The honourable court has granted him bail by suspending the sentence and directed him to give a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh along with two sureties of the like amount to the satisfaction of the honourable Chief Judicial Magistrate at Jodhpur,” said Mehta

But getting the bail wasn’t easy. High drama preceded the hearing in the courtroom. Angry lawyers from the Rajasthan Bar Association registered their protest with the judge hearing the case agitating because the case was being heard on Friday, which was supposed to be a strike day. Animal rights activists weren't too happy with the court either.

"Its absolutely appalling. This is not even his first conviction. The court hasn’t considered that he has four other cases against him. He has beaten co-stars, run over five people, bribed witnesses, he's been shown on TV holding a gun in his hand. Isn’t he a menace to society?" animal Rights' activist Maneka Gandhi said on hearing the news of Salman’s bail.

Salman's legal battles aren't over yet. The revision petition challenging his conviction will come up for hearing in the Rajasthan High Court on October 24.
