Jaipur: Most filmmakers shooting period films prefer to build replicas instead of getting caught in bureaucratic red tape, getting permission to shoot at the real monuments.

But not if the actor in question is Salman Khan and his screen mother is Rajasthan Tourism Minister Bina Kak.

Kak has allegedly allowed the magnificent medieval monument the Amer fort to be turned into a Bollywood prop.

“It's a Salman Khan movie and our Minister for Tourism has played his mother in a movie and he's like a son to her, so this is motherly affection,” Mahaveer Singh Nathawat, President, Tourist Guides Association, Amer

For tourists who come a long way to see the fort - one of Jaipur's main attractions - are returning disappointed.

“We don't think this should be put up here (referring to the film set), this is a place where tourists come from faraway places to see the beauty of India,” says a tourist Sania.

The wood and fibre sets that have covered the fort, taking over for two weeks to set up, have angered citizen's groups as well.

Though the producers admit to paying for only five days (@Rs 2 lakh per day) from February 9, the judiciary has also stepped in, seeking an explanation.

However, the Superintendent of the fort, Zafarullah, had nothing to say when CNN-IBN approached him.

But Bina Kak, despite repeated efforts, was not available for a comment.
