Samjhauta Express to chug again

New Delhi: The Atari Express will take off on its maiden journey after the Sunday blasts in Panipat.

However, even after 68 people were killed security on the train still doesn't seem to be a priority. There is no provision of baggage scanners and extra police personnel.

The only visible safety measures are the frisking and the manual luggage checks at the entry points of Old Delhi Railway Station.

“It is a risk as it is the first run after the blasts,” says passenger, Marya Salim.

As a precaution, the train will not have any unreserved compartments this time round, and tickets will be issued only after verification of passports.

Passengers are facing problems with the new measure resulting in longer and slower moving cues.

But despite the lack of security, hundreds of people will be on board the train when it leaves at 10:40 pm (IST) on Wednesday evening.

And apart from that the Samjhauta Express is a train of the poor who cannot afford to fly. It is for families divided by borders, who have no other choice.
