Sandalwood mafia kills forest officer in Andhra

Adilabad: Another officer paid for his honesty with his life. A forest officer was beaten to death by the sandalwood mafia in Andhra Pradesh.

Forest officer P Satyanarayana, was beaten to death allegedly by sandalwood smugglers in the forests in Adilabad in Andhra Pradesh late on Tuesday night.

Satyanarayana had reached the area with three other villagers after he got a tip-off that sandalwood was being smuggled.

The incident comes a few months after another forest officer, Shivlal, was allegedly burnt to death by a teakwood smuggling gang.
