New Delhi: Sania Mirza advanced to the second round of the $1,340,000 Qatar Total Open at Doha on Monday by registering a straight-set victory over Romina Oprandi of Italy 6-4 6-3.
Sania, ranked 46, carved out a smooth win in just one hour and 13 minutes in the Tier II WTA Tour event.
Sania Mirza took a week off the circuit after the Bangalore Open, where she was beaten in the quarterfinals by unseeded Yaroslava Shvedova of Russia.
