New Delhi: Third-seeded Cypriot Marcos Bagdhatis proved too hot to handle for Prakash Amritraj in the second round of the ATP Challenger event in Vancouver.

The Indian lost 6-4, 6-1 to the 2006 Australian Open finalist.

Amritraj had beaten Croatia’s Ivan Dodig 7-5, 6-3 in the first round.

Amritraj and Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, seeded third, are already out of the doubles event after suffering a shock 6-2, 6-2 first-round defeat to unseeded Kyu Tae Im of Korea and Marinko Matosevic of Australia.

Harsh Mankad and his American partner David Martin had also lost their first round match 7-6(7), 6-2 to Israeli pair of Amir Hadad and Harel Levy.

She next faces American Laura Granville. Sania is in running for her second tournament win on the trot, having won the Lexington Challenger recently.

In the Challenger event at Campos do Jordao, Brazil, Ashutosh Singh and his South African partner Raven Klaasen lost 3-6, 7-6(7), 12-10 to local talents Marcelo Demoliner and Rodrigo Guidolin in the opening round.
