New Delhi: Sania Mirza continues to struggle at the big stage in international tennis. The Indian lost 4-6, 4-6 in the women's singles second round to Romanian 28th seed Sorana Cirstea at Wimbledon on Wednesday.

She is yet to go past even the second round at Wimbledon and French Open and faces the danger of being left behind in the race for supremacy in professional tennis.

"I felt like I could beat her. It was just a few points. She is 28 in the world and that's the cream of the crop basically," Saina said after losing to Cirstea.

The injury woes are behind her but Sania is yet to start winning the big matches. She has been winning just a round or two in tournaments these days.

After failing to go past a Wimbledon second round for the fourth time, she continues to ponder over her disappointing show and things she could have done better.

"I think I should have been a bit more aggressive today which I wasn't. She was kind of dictating play and that's not when I am at my best," said Sania.

With memories of her mixed doubles title with Mahesh Bhupathi at the Australian Open still fresh in her mind; Sania has something to look forward to.

Her focus now is on the doubles and mixed doubles campaign at Wimbledon.

"Mahesh and I have always played well together. I think we complement each other so well, we return really well," she said.

While doubles success is cherished, Sania's singles career needs a leg up.

With a crop of young players emerging and the top players fighting hard for glory, the Indian star is in danger of being left behind in the race.
