New Delhi: Indian tennis star Sania Mirza has reached the 2nd round of the Pattaya Open.
She beat Nicha Lertpitaksinchai 7-6, 7-5 in a match lasting nearly two hours.
Sania struggled to get past the 945th ranked local girl in an hour and 51 minutes.
Sania is coming back from an abdominal injury which she suffered in the Australian Open.
Sania Mirza next plays winners of the match between Slovakian third seed Dominika Cibulkova and Russian qualifier Vitalia Diatchenko.
