Brussels: Sania Mirza recorded the 500th win of her professional career when she advanced to the doubles quarter-finals of the WTA Brussels Open here with her American partner Bethanie Mattek-Sands.
The fourth seed Indo-American pair got the better of Mervana Jugic-Salkic and Sandra Klemenschits 6-4, 6-2 in the opening round of the $637,400 clay court event.
They took an hour and five minutes to dispatch their rivals and will now face wild cards Elena Bovina and Alison Van Uytvanck. It was Sania's 230th win in doubles. She has 270 singles victories to her credit.
However, in the singles event of the same tournament, Sania fell in the first round after she lost 1-6, 5-7 to Monica Niculescu of Romania.
