Mumbai: Comedy seems to be the flavour of the season. And the new film is Indra Kumar's Dhamaal that stars Sanjay Dutt.
After Masti and Pyare Mohan, Indra Kumar is back with comedy again. Dhamaal stars Sanjay Dutt, Arshad Warsi, Ritesh Deshmukh and Javed Jafferi in lead roles. The man who once gave hits like Dil, Beta, Raj and Ishq, wanted to go back to his emotional and romantic stories this time but his children forced him into comedy.
“My children were pestering me for a long time. They said, you make comedy films dad, why do you want to make a serious movie now. I said, I will make a emotional film, will make people cry. They said we are not interested in seeing your emotional film. We want comedy. You make comedy. I wasn’t listening to them initially but then thought why not give it a try. Because they are the youth, they are the audience of today,” said Indra Kumar, Director, Dhamaal.
The film is a fun on the run story where four friends who are smalltime conmans are chased by police inspector played by Sanjay Dutt. The strange thing is that there is no actress in the film. We wonder if guys can have fun by themselves.
Arshad Warsi said, “Guys can have a lot of fun. When you see the film you realize. I saw it last night and when we were shooting things, we were slower. But when I saw it, I felt like flying. The film starts and ends, you don’t miss anybody. You don’t feel the need for a girl at all. That’s why absolutely there isn’t one. There is no room for romance or anything like that.”
Ritesh Deshmuk said, “We are having boys day out. So if you ask all the people who are with the girls, boys day out is quite funny.”
With the film's main lead Sanjay Dutt on temporary respite from his legal problems, the film's producers are comfortable about releasing the film and having a premiere that Sanjay may be in the mood to attend. The timing couldn't be better.
