New Delhi: Fraudsters hacked into French President Nicolas Sarkozy's official bank account and have withdrawn money. A complaint was filed by Sarkozy last month.
Financial prosecutors confirmed that an investigation is underway although reports suggest the theft involves small amount of money. Fradsters obtained confidential details of Sarkozy's account so as to withdraw some amount regularly from his salary which equals 195,000 pounds.
"An inquiry is underway, the president of the Republic has filed a complaint," government spokesman Luc Chatel told Radio J of France, according to wire agencies. "We will see if there was fraud in a way in which the perpetrators can be sanctioned," he added.
