Satyam freshers cry foul, demand jobs that were promised

New Delhi: Students who were given offer letters by Satyam in 2007 are now demanding that the present management come good on the promise.
There are reportedly over 5,000 students who were placed with Satyam. However, the company has not communicated with any of those placed after the software firm’s disgraced founder B Ramalinga Raju confessed to perpetrating a Rs 7,000-crore financial fraud.
Students claim they have repeatedly tried to get in touch with Satyam but have not received any replies. They have also written to the Company Law Board requesting them to treat them as Satyam's liabilities.
“Our main demand is we request them to honour our offers. As we were given offer letter in June 2007 we completed our graduation in 2008. By the end of this academic year we will no more be considered as freshers so we will lose one year in our career,” Satyam fresher Varun said.
The students are also reportedly planning to knock at the doors of political parties. Under the banner of Satyam Freshers Union, the students want political parties to air concerns over job losses in their manifestos.
The company, with a head-count of around 51,000, is trimming employee costs as part of the overall mission to salvage Satyam.
