New Delhi: The CID will be interrogating Satyam's disgraced former chief B Ramalinga Raju, his brother and ex-MD Rama Raju and former CFO Srinivas Vadlamani on Saturday.

The Hyderabad Court directed the CID not to use third degree methods and has ensured that Raju's lawyer, Bharat Kumar, be present at all interrogation sessions. Meanwhile, Raju is likely to file a review petition.

“We have applied for a copy of the order and we are taking steps to file revision petition against the order of the honourable judge granting police custody for custodial interrogation,” Kumar said.

In the 98 hours that Raju and his two associates will be in the police custody, here is what the CID will be probing:

  • The CID has prepared a list of questions with three main agendas.
  • The CID will be probing where more than Rs 7,000 crore reported in the Satyam balance sheets has gone. They will try to find out how and where were the funds transferred and what was the modus operandi.
  • The CID will also question him on the purpose behind Raju owning 250 benami companies and the startling coincidence of 37 of them named after Mytas, out of which 17 were started in February 2007 alone.
  • And finally the CID will try to get the details of the bank accounts the three accused have, both in India and abroad. Sources say the number could run into thousands.

But it is not just the CID. The SEBI and Serious Fraud Investigation officials are likely to question Raju and his accomplice too.

Meanwhile, the state Finance Ministry has said it won't cancel the Hyderabad Metro project contract given to Maytas in a hurry.

“Government is not in haste to cancel or give a go-ahead to the project. We are keeping a watch,” state Finance Minister K Rosaiah said.

Rosaiah's statement comes even as the CPM, an ally of the Telugu Desam, has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, seeking cancellation of the Metro project contract.

The Satyam mess is now as much a political hot potato as a financial scandal.
