Click to play videoNew Delhi: Think FM radio and you usually think music. Not anymore. The Capital's airwaves welcomed a newcomer on Monday - a talk radio station that caters exclusively to women.
Christened Radio MEOW and proudly women-centric, the philosophy behind the idea is as interesting as the task that lies ahead.
“This station doesn't fake it. It’s for every woman who thinks and every man who thinks about a woman. It’s not a gyann vaani, it’s talk radio format and will mimic life a lot more. It will discuss stereotypes and will break them down. It will help men understand women better or have fun trying,” says COO Radio MEOW Anil Srivatsa.
The idea came about when a technical research revealed women to be avid radio listeners, with considerable interaction potential.
With a tag line that goes Thodi Meethi, Thodi Catty (Little sweet, little catty), the station will deal with every issue under the sun or between the sheets. Running 24 X 7, it has a host of shows to keep the women hooked.
“There’s Meow Matinee, Mera Meow, Top Cat and Meow Between the Sheets,” says Srivatsa.
Also, jockey seems to be the banned word at Radio MEOW - it’s radio-hosts. And with MEOW looking at Mumbai and Kolkata airwaves next, lets see how far the purring power goes.
