New Delhi: The Supreme Court will take up the case of sealings in Delhi on Monday. Ahead of that traders met on Sunday to chalk out their strategy.
The traders association announced a compensation package of Rs 50,000 for the families of the four people killed in clashes with the police on Wednesday.
They decided to stay united and face the Supreme Court's decision on Monday, on the validity of the September 7 notification, of the Delhi government.
The notice had allowed commercial and mixed land use in over 2000 streets in the city.
CAIT General Secretary Praveen Khandelwal says, “We hope for a favourable judgement from the Supreme Court keeping in mind the humanitarian nature of the issue. But in any case our core group will meet on Monday in the evening.”
The Government on Thursday suspended sealing operations until September 25 while a Group of Ministers decided not to confront the judiciary over the issue.
The Centre on Friday filed a fresh affidavit in the Supreme Court on MCD sealing drive stating that September 7 notification is a valid piece of delegated legislation and complied with all the procedures mandated by Delhi Development Act, 1957.
