But prime witness in the case, Mike Mannion or Masala Mike, is being held back by the police. The British tourist had returned to Goa when the local police issued a lookout notice against him after he revealed important facts in the British media.
Mike is now struggling to go home. “I have told them whatever I know. But now, I want to go back to UK to my family, my work. My father is 75 years old. I need to go back for him. The system here is very rigid. Looking at my case, I don’t think anyone will be ready to come forward and be a witness,” he says.
But police are not done yet. They say the lookout notice will be lifted only after he comes forward with the entire truth.
Says SP, North Goa, Bosco George, “We still feel that he has not told us everything he knows. There are other witnesses and he is hiding some links. We will be very happy if he comes forward and deposes all the facts.”
Fearing his life, Masala travelled across north India and finally came to Goa to depose. But now it’s clear that police are not going to leave him soon as his statement is very important for the case.
