Schumacher races at go kart event in US

New Delhi: While it is still not clear if Michael Schumacher would return to Formula One he ruled in 2010, the seven-time champion turned out for a go kart event in Las Vegas but failed to win.

Schumacher began his racing career with go kart and he turned out for the Tony Kart team in the 13th annual Super Kart Nationals in Las Vegas.

"I simply enjoy playing around with four wheels or two wheels. Karting is a big passion since ever. I have recently started again to get into go karts. I think it was about June or July that I started again at my home track. Yeah, and just having fun," said Schumacher.

The red baron was not the only Formula One representative at the race. Sebastiam Buemi and the controversial Nelson Piquet Jr also made an appearance at the event.

"To be honest competing against Schumacher is something special because I was watching him on TV when I was small. And now I'm in F1 but he's not there anymore. But being in karting race together, it's nice. Just having a lot of fun," said Buemi

With 91 Formula One wins under his belt Schumacher is by far the most successful driver in the sport and the pit lane is once again abuzz with rumours that the seven-time world champion could return to action next season.

But the man himself though was not ready to reveal anything.

"I am actually working for Ferrari, I mean following several races this year and sort of (giving) advice. Our team is I think the right direction. Nevertheless, yeah, I am having a good time. It's great to have a professional life in a way that you can choose, and then have your private life that you can fill out with whatever you think is appropriate," said Schumacher.

Despite being almost 41 years, Schumacher is still not off the pace. He did not win in Las Vegas but still managed to finish seventh, which is not bad for a man who retired in 2006.
