The police on Sunday registered a case against seven persons who got into a scuffle in connection with the distribution of financial assistance to natives of Assam.
Police said that the incident occurred after Id ‘namaskaram’ at the Government High School. “Two sections of people who gathered for offering prayers started quarrelling with each other over distribution of financial aid to natives of Assam, who reside in the area, in the backdrop of the recent violence in Assam.
One group opposed the other who had arranged the function to distribute the fund. “The function was cancelled following the scuffle,” the police said.
