Sea flows into village, leads to floods

CNN-IBN

Vishakapatnam: In what is being termed as an inexplicable phenomenon, the sea is flowing in at Dippa-la-paalam village in Vishakapatnam leading to inundation.

The village is now inundated with water as the sea moved ahead by more than 200 meters.

The villagers are panicking as the phenomenon is still continuing and the seawater continues to flow in.

Meanwhile, the district collector Anil Kumar Singhal is convening a special meeting with experts to understand the severity and the reason behind the phenomenon.

Says a fisherman, Suryam, "We never saw such a thing happening, the sea has moved by 200-300 meters. We are lucky that it happened during the day, if it was night time many lives would have been lost. I think the wall being constructed by the private port at nearby Gangavaram village caused this."
