Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh): A 12-year-old boy, Aas Mohammed fell into an open manhole in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.

It has been more than 24 hours now but there is no sign of Aas. His father, Raees Mohammad has been waiting for his son.

“Officials say there is no hope but I have faith in God,” says Raees.

The Army rescue team left on Tuesday night and will return in the day to resume rescue efforts.

The Ghaziabad municipal corporation workers however, continued the search through the night, checking each manhole, but to no avail. The lack of results left Aas's family distressed.

Officials working on the site say that chances of Aas’ surviving are slim.

There are many open manholes lying uncovered in the Ghaziabad city and even New Delhi whish only paves way for problems like this one.

The problem needs to be addressed on a wider canvas not just a local problem.
