

Couples face off in Valentine's Day ordeal
Pattaya: Lips locked at all times -- including for bathroom breaks and meals -- is the less than romantic challenge facing Thai couples trying for the kiss to blow away all kisses at a Valentine's Day marathon.
Seven couples have brought their lips together in the Thai beach resort of Pattaya, some 100 km (62 miles) southeast of Bangkok, hoping to break the world record for longest continuous kiss - which currently stands at nearly two days.

Superbugs: Rare genetic fusion to blame for spread
Mumbai: British scientists conducting a study on superbugs in London have discovered that a highly rare genetic fusion is to blame for the superbug NDM1. This fusion has given NDM1 the power to easily jump between various species of bacteria at a superfast speed, consequently making it drug resistant.
The scientists, who first reported the NDM1 last year, have now found that NDM1, by jumping between bacteria strains, can make several human diseases resistant to almost all known antibiotics.

Aston Martin reveals the V12 Zagato
Aston Martin has lifted the wraps off the images of its V12 Zagato production model, ahead of the Geneva Motor Show.
Like the Aston Martin One-77 supercar, the V12 Zagato will also be handcrafted and will be a limited edition with only 150 examples being made.

What is common to the Duke 200 and the Pulsar 200 NS?
Think of the 200cc engine as a platform for clarity. Bajaj say the gearbox and the crankshaft are virtually identical but from there on the two engines take different paths. It's sort of like how the Volkswagen group uses the same engine across brands. But instead of the same engine in both the Duke and the Pulsar, the top of the engine is different. It's a big difference, one that clearly defines the different roles that the two motorcycles are supposed to take on.

Amsterdam: A portrait of a veiled woman cradling a wounded relative in her arms, taken in Yemen by Spanish photographer Samuel Aranda for The New York Times, won the top World Press Photo prize on Friday.
The photograph captured a moment in the conflict in Yemen, when demonstrators against outgoing president Ali Abdullah Saleh used a mosque in Sanaa as a field hospital to treat the wounded. But judges said it also spoke more broadly for the Arab Spring.

Mahindra launches the new Xylo SUV
Mahindra and Mahindra have launched an updated Mahindra Xylo. The Xylo now gets a new grille, sharper headlights and a new bumper, all reminiscent of the Genio pick-up. The new Xylo gets a voice control system which allows the user to control the headlights, fuel lid, wipers, door locks and other features.
There are five variants with the top of the line E9 getting leather upholstery, two tone dashboard, new door trims and cruise control.

Mahindra closes bookings for XUV500
New Delhi: Auto major Mahindra & Mahindra said it has closed the second phase of booking for its latest sports utility vehicle XUV500 and has received over 25,000 orders in a period of 10 days.
The company will conduct a draw of the orders to deliver the vehicle to 7,200 customers.
