

Samjhauta Express blast: Key accused arrested
New Delhi: In a big breakthrough in the Samjhauta Express blasts investigation, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday arrested the man who allegedly placed the bomb on the train that linked India and Pakistan.
Sources have told CNN-IBN that the suspect, identified as Kamal Chouhan, is a resident of Indore. He is likely to be produced in the Patiala House court in Delhi on Monday. Over 60 people had died in the blast on Samjhauta Express on February, 2007.

ISRO row not affected space programmes: Radhakrishnan
Bangalore: ISRO Chief K Radhakrishnan on Sunday rejected suggestions that the row with his predecessor G Madhavan Nair and his indictment over the Antrix-Devas deal has dented its image and cast a shadow on the country's space programme.
Seeking to put the two-week-old controversy and its fall-out firmly behind, Radhakrishnan said the focus now is on missions and indicated that successful space ventures would redeem its pride.

UK-India to deepen bilateral ties
London: India and the UK will seek to deepen bilateral ties during a crucial five-day visit of Jeremy Browne, the British Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, to New Delhi from on Monday.
Browne, who will be on his second trip to India since assuming office in May 2010, will discuss current bilateral and international priorities during his visit to New Delhi.

Gujarat riots: Court to hear SIT report on Monday
Ahmedabad: A local court will on Monday hear the closure report filed by the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team (SIT), which has reportedly given a clean chit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi among others for their role in 2002 post-Godhra riots.
The court of Metropolitan Magistrate MS Bhatt will also hear the petitions filed by social activists Teesta Setalvad and Mukul Sinha seeking copies of the report filed in a sealed cover before it on Wednesday.

Militant module busted, kingpin held in J&K
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police claimed to have busted a militant module in Srinagar with the arrest of its kingpin and recovery of arms and ammunition. Omar Zargar was arrested from the old city, locally known as downtown, a fortnight ago after investigations revealed that he was trying to revive militancy in the city, official sources said on Sunday.
Zargar was detained by police at the height of summer unrest in 2010 after having obtained clinching evidences of his involvement in stone-pelting incidents but had been later let-off.

Killer wife freed on grounds of private defence
Madurai: In a rare instance, a woman who killed her husband after he attacked her in an inebriated state and also attempted to rape their daughter, has been set free by police on grounds of private defence.
"Investigations proved that it was an act of private self-defence and to safeguard her daughter's modesty. So police released Usha Rani charged of murdering her husband," Superintendent of Police Asra Garg said.

Govt mulling study on living patterns of tribals
New Delhi: The government is planning to rope in health and nutrition experts to study living pattern of tribals, including Jarawas of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, in an effort to reduce their susceptibility to diseases.
Observing that the immunity of tribals and forest dwellers in the country is an area of concern, Tribal Affairs Minister V Kishore Chandra Deo told PTI that "utmost importance" should be given to their health needs.

Devas deal: Government mulls probe by ED, I-T
New Delhi: The government is mulling a probe by the Enforcement Directorate and the Income Tax department into the role of two Mauritius-based entities to identify their stakes in Devas Multimedia Pvt Ltd which executed the controversial S-band deal with the ISRO.
It is also contemplating investigation into activities of certain unknown government officials for their "collusive behaviour" and acts of omission and commission in extending undue favours to Devas at the government exchequer's cost.

UK: Visa granted to Praveen Reddy's family
New Delhi: The family of stabbed Indian student from Hyderabad, Praveen Reddy, was granted visa to visit the UK on Sunday. Praveen Reddy, doing an MBA at the London Business School was stabbed on Friday in the London borough of Newham.
Eleven people have been arrested by the Scotland Yard in connection with the case.
